Case Study
Jason is 36 years old and is experiencing low mood and low self-esteem, following on from some issues in his personal life. Jason gets in touch with Silence Speaks and following on from a consultation, he decides that Counselling may be the most suitable way to deal with his current circumstances.
When Jason attends for Counselling, he begins to explore how he is currently feeling, what is currently going on in his life, and why he believes that he is experiencing low mood and low self-esteem. He takes a few sessions to explore this further with his counsellor, realising along the way that due to having low self-esteem and experiencing low mood, he has stopped pursuing the goals and aspirations that he had in life. By not doing so, this has lead to feelings of not being good enough or not having the ability to motivate himself, which has been leading to Jason struggling with how he feels about himself.
As Jason explores this further with his counsellor, and the therapeutic relationship grows, he finds himself in what he considers to be a safe space, and begins to open up further about past abuse and trauma. His counsellor recognises the need for Therapy, and with the consent of his counsellor, they plan out 6 - 8 sessions to explore this part of his life in more depth. In doing so, Jason is able to make sense of his past struggles, and through integrating his past experiences with his current life, it becomes clear to Jason why he was experiencing the issues that he first brough with him to Silence Speaks.
Once these sessions have concluded, and Jason has learnt new coping strategies and techniques to provide him with his own personalised Mental Health and Wellbeing Toolkit, he is able to move forward with the challenges that once held him back, and he decides to move into a phase of Coaching. Jason works with his counsellor to assess his current circumstances, to map out and plan a path forward for both his personal and professional life, and to set goals that he would like to reach with achievable milestones along the way.
Jason continues with Silence Speaks so that he can reflect on his progress as he moves forward, so that he can report back to someone that he feels accountable to, and once he reached a stage where he felt that he had confronted what he needed to from his past, that he was content with his life as it is in the present, and that he had the right structures in place to support himself in the future, he booked in for his final session and his time with Silence Speaks came to a close.
